Major Festivals are celebrated at Puri as per Sree Jagannath Temple Rules Sunia is traditionally the day when the revenue collection of the Orissa royality begins. During the dynastic times the times the images of the erstwhile Maharaja was embossed on the gold coin on this day and the citizen paid their yearly tax and tolls to the King’s treasury. This ceremony is done at the Puri Place with much pump and ceremony. The king of Puri who is the great devotee and Chalanti Pratima of Sree Jagannath, Puri also celebrates the festival with invitation to thousands of visitors by providing 108 variety Mahaprasad of the day in the palace at Puri.
